TECHLEB/06 Conference
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
May 20-21, 2006

The first international conference on technology development in Lebanon will be held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology May 20-21, 2006. Held under the auspices of the Prime Ministry of Lebanon, this 2-day inaugural conference is being organized by the Lebanese Club at MIT in collaboration with the International Network of Lebanese Entrepreneurs and Technologists (INLET) and other advisory partners.

TECHLEB/06 aims to define the roadmap of development strategies and initiatives essential to making Lebanon a vibrant and sustainable technology hub in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In the presence of business leaders, decision makers, and economic development experts from the international community, the conference will convene key players from the Lebanese private sector, government, and diaspora to connect the building blocks of Lebanon’s technology sector: technical and legal infrastructure, capacity development, economic opportunity, global market access, and tax climate. The strategic importance of a thriving technology sector in Lebanon lies in its ripple effect on other economic and social sectors.

New AuthenticationProcedures

During 1998 the Lebanese Engineering Syndicate announced that it no longer will accept documents authenticated by the U.S. State Department from engineers or architects applying to the Syndicate. Applicants from the United States and Canada should have their documents authenticated by Amideast headquarters in Washington, DC, or one of its offices in Lebanon.

Applicants should request from Amideast a release form. Once the applicant has completed and signed the release form he/she sends it back to Amideast. Please note that Amideast charges afee for each document authenticated. Amideast will then send the signed release form to the applicant's university. Once Amideast receives the documents they forward them to their offices in Lebanon by courier for authentication. The Amideast offices in Lebanon then will forward the documents to the Lebanese Engineering Syndicate.

Please note that the Syndicate for its application procedure requires an authenticated university letter of degree verification and transcript.
